Thermal Insulation

The 19 mm roll insulates more and is ideal for the roof and large walls, where there is enough depth. The 10 mm roll is easier to fit in curved areas, wheel arches or tight cavities. Many converters combine both to get the best result in every part of the vehicle.

It is highly recommended. The 15 m x 5 cm tape, made from the same elastomeric material, seals the joints between pieces with strong adhesion and moisture resistance. This prevents thermal bridges and air gaps that would reduce the effectiveness of all the insulation you have installed.

Measure the side walls, roof, rear doors and, if you like, the floor, then add a small margin for offcuts. As a guide, one 15 m² roll is usually enough for a medium-sized van, while the 7.5 m² roll suits small vehicles or finishing specific areas.

Yes. Its elastomeric structure provides thermal and acoustic insulation at the same time, reducing road noise, wind and the drumming of rain on the bodywork. The result is a noticeably quieter interior, both while driving and when you are trying to sleep at night.

No. Each premium insulation is made to measure for a specific Braguscamp rooftop tent: Xplorer 135 and 145, Everest 135, Savage 135, Forest 160, Sahara 160 or Terra S. Choose the version that matches your tent on the product page to guarantee a perfect fit.

Yes. Insulation does not only retain heat in winter; it also slows the solar gain that overheats the bodywork, so the interior stays cooler during the day and recovers sooner in the evening. It also reduces condensation in every season.

Clean and degrease the bodywork thoroughly, cut the pieces using cardboard templates and fit them to cover the whole surface without leaving gaps between them. Then seal every joint with Vanflex joining tape to avoid thermal bridges. Check the product page for the recommended bonding method, and work with dry metal at a mild temperature.

It is optional, but recommended if you travel in the cold, because the floor transmits a lot of cold into the interior and into your sleep. Cover the floor panel with insulation before fitting the floor board and final covering. Bear in mind it will add some height, so plan it together with the furniture. At the edges and wheel arches, the 10 mm thickness is easier to fit.

The roof is the surface that receives the most heat from the sun and loses the most in winter, so it is the priority, usually with 19 mm. Next come the side walls and rear doors, which are often very thin. Curved areas and wheel arches are best handled with the more flexible 10 mm thickness.

Yes, as far as possible. Metal ribs are thermal bridges: they transmit cold and heat and encourage condensation if left exposed. Cover them with strips of 10 mm Vanflex, which adapts well to narrow, curved profiles, and seal the joins with the tape. Always keep cable routes and anchor points accessible.

It reduces it significantly, because it lowers the temperature difference between the bodywork and the inside air, which is what makes vapour condense. However, the moisture produced by breathing, cooking and wet clothes is still there, so you need ventilation: a skylight or a slightly open window keeps the air fresh and completes the work of the insulation.

The most practical approach is to mark and cut the window and skylight openings first, then insulate around their frames, so the insulation reaches the edge without being damaged by the cut. Run the wiring before closing everything up as well. Once everything is insulated and sealed, you can fit the interior lining panels and the furniture.

It is a quilted, multi-layer fabric and cotton inner lining that Braguscamp makes to measure for each model. It reduces heat loss through the canvas on cold nights, holds back the heat during sunny hours and limits condensation, so the interior stays warm and dry. It is the simplest way to extend your camping season.

Yes, the insulation is hidden under whatever interior lining you choose: boards, panels, carpet lining or fabric. Fix the lining to the vehicle's structure or to battens, not to the insulation, and try not to compress it too much so it keeps its performance. Before closing up, check that all joints are sealed with Vanflex tape and that the wiring is already in place.
